We are deeply saddened by the news of the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that hit Kermanshah Province in western Iran, on November 25th. Our team on the ground has reported that close to 800 people have been injured and over 300 homes damaged.
Your donation will help purchase much needed coats and provisions for the children and families devastated by this tragedy. We have had request for 800 coats each costing $20.
The people in this area are still rebuilding and recovering from last years 7.3 magnitude earthquake. Many which still live in tents. Cold weather and wintery conditions make the situation on the ground even more severe.
Last year, thanks to your generosity, MAP provided:
- 50 tons of relief and basic provisions such as; water, blankets and tents to the victims of the earthquake.
- Next we purchased and equipped 4 mobile (connex) units that were used as mobile health clinics in the area
- Additionally, we purchased 150 heater-air conditioners units, which were distributed to families living in tents.
- Finally, as part of the reconstruction of the area, we built, two health clinics and 5 Kindergarten/preschools in the area. (Our team has reported that these structures are intact and have not been damaged by the new earthquake)
MAP holds a valid OFAC License and has been working in Iran since 2010.
