Cambodia According to World Bank statistics, 40% of Cambodians live below the national poverty line. Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia, has 564 slum areas which houses 300,000 people, one quarter of the city's population. These children live in a severe toxic environment lacking basic need such as food, shelter, heath and education. Due to poverty and lack of proper health care 85 out of 1000 children die before they reach they age of five. According to the national census there are 16 physicians in Cambodia for every 100,000 people. Motomedix Motomedix is a free health clinic providing care and diagnosis for the residents at Stung Meanchey dump site community. The children in this community live in a highly toxic environment without accesses to clean drinking water, food or shelter. The children are plagued with a slew of diseases and no access to doctors or medicine. MAP supports the operation and the on going programs at this clinic. We serve this community by providing diagnosis, treatment and immunization for the children and preventive care through Health/Hygiene workshops once a month. Aziza Place MAP is supporting a safe home and learning center serving impoverished children from the slum Steung Meanchey. Aziza place houses children and provides education and developmental programs for these children. With out this center these children would be living in the trash dump site and picking through trash for food. This school and home gives these children economical and social opportunity in becoming self sufficient productive citizens of their country.
